Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Is rubber flooring good for gyms?
Rubber is the best surface material for gyms. Not only does it provide the best shock absorption and protection from injury, it reduces noise, is slip resistant, and very low maintenance.

Q. What is the best thickness for gym rubber flooring?
Choosing the right thickness of rubber gym flooring comes down to the activities you will be carrying out and the level of impact. If you plan to carry out heavy weightlifting, a rubber tile from 20mm and above is recommended. For light to moderate exercise, less dense mats and rolls starting from 11mm are suitable. Rubber sheet flooring as low as 4mm is suitable for areas such as cardio zones which protect the floor and support machinery.

Q. Can I put rubber flooring over concrete?
Yes, rubber flooring can be laid onto concrete. The concrete subfloor should be level and dry before installing the flooring. Unpolished concrete can be dusty. To control dust, a coat of PVA or SBR sealer is recommended.

Q. Can you cut rubber gym mats?
Yes, they can be cut with a sharp Stanley blade. Using a metal ruler as a guide is recommended for best results. Always remove your body from the direction of the blade as rubber can be unpredictable.

Q. Are rubber gym mats compatible with underfloor heating?
Yes. It is recommended that underfloor heating should be turned off 48 hours before installation.

Q. How long is shipping?
In stock flooring, shipping is 2-4 working days.
